8th Grade Religion
Please see https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1aDIN5mrRnLGKUjIFmSq8B1rvxxEOPAfixg7wCOfgiXY/edit#slide=id.p for a copy of my Back to School Night presentation.
Curriculum: The focus this year is on the nature and history of the Church, and the universal call to holiness of all her members. As 8th graders, students are more able to abstract, think, and reflect. Building upon these skills, the goal is to give students a generous and wholehearted love for the Church based on an understanding of her divine nature and the treasures she contains. Assessments will cover chapter material, understanding/memorization of certain prayers, and understanding of aspects of Catholic Social Teaching.
We continue to provide an online component for the 6-8 religion curriculum through www.mycatholicfaithdelivered.com. Each student has been given login information which allows them access to program which engages students with the latest technology. Designed to enhance the classroom, and aligned with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, this online course helps seducate teachers and students with multimedia and games.

Grading: Students' grades will consist of three components: classwork (30%), tests (50%) and project (one per quarter, 20%)
Google Classroom: Please look for assignments on both Powerschool and Google Classroom. I post my assignments in advance of due dates, so please check regularly. All student work will be submitted via Google Classroom, unless otherwise noted.
This year, 8th graders are fortunate to have Fr. John visiting us (usually on Mondays) to teach about the lives of the Saints, among many other topics, including Confirmation and the different liturgical seasons.
