Curriculum: 6th grade Social Studies proceeds from an introduction to the study of history and archaeology, and explores ancient civilization through the Roman Empire. In addition to learning how to learn through the use of Chromebooks, our big focus this will be be learning notetaking using the Cornell Notes method, and to use primary documents. Grading: Students' grades will consist of four components: classwork (30%), quizzes (20%), tests (30%) and project (one per quarter, 20%).
Google Classroom: Please look for assignments on both Powerschool and Google Classroom. I post my assignments in advance of due dates, so please check regularly. Outlines will be handed in in notebooks; some assignments will be submitted via Google Classroom.
At the end of our unit on Mesopotamia, the students made their own cylinder seals. We are now engaged in our Egypt unit, with the students completing a scavenger hunt on Egyptian social roles.
